CHARACTER: Evergreen; round form; dense canopy.

SIZE: Medium (Height: 20-30'; Spread: 20').

GROWTH RATE: Slow

FOLIAGE: Dark green, compound leaves with oval, serrated leaflets 4" long.

FLOWER/FRUIT/BARK: Insignificant flowers. Yellow seed capsules, 1/2" across, form in summer. Smooth, light gray bark.

MONTHLY WATERING NEEDS:
1st year: 4; 2nd year: 3; 3rd year: 2.
TREE CARE: Low. Requires light annual pruning. Stake and prune young trees to enhance structure.

TOLERANCES: Drought; poor drainage; any soil; steady or cold winds, fog.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Prefers sun.

NOTABLE TRAITS:
A tough, clean street tree, like a carob but more open and delicate. Good tree for 2x3' basins. Deep, non-invasive roots rarely cause sidewalk damage. Disease and pest resistant.
